repost: hate is not greater than love maybe

March31

I’m kind of cheating, today. but, this so by public request (WordPress does not have a other form of “repost” capability).

two words:

love and hate.

or, love and hatred.

they represent genuine extremes, I think.

as an aside… we’ve witnessed; and unfortunately, some of you have lived – “love hate” relationships.

but, some people love to hate. we assign that to terrorists, for example. other folks might submit they hate to love.

“there’s nothing in this world so sweet as love. and next to love the sweetest thing is hate.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I’m intently considering my keyboard, and thinking love is an elixir, whereas hatred is fuel. however, both can be the foundation for a cause. and, a result of a cause, I  suppose.

apparently there exists, some where, but I don’t, in truth, care precisely where, a study using a brain scanner to investigate the neural circuits that become active when people look at a photograph of someone they say they hate has found that the “hate circuit” shares something in common with the “love circuit”.

I’m thinking the opposite of love is not hate. however, it could be indifference. but, we’re trying not to introduce other words, here. on the other hand, indifference is not the same result if you say: the opposite of hate is not love. the meaning, if not the entire context changes, and radically.

what the hell, I’ll add an aside, here. me? I’ll fear indifference long before hate, and certainly love. indifference might suggest the loss of hope. And, maybe that’s the key to strapping on a vest stuffed with dynamite, or losing the will to love. love might take more courage and effort than hate, after all.

these words, and their application, might represent an important battlefield. the on-going war that rages (now, that’s an interesting word relative to this line-of-thinking) between these emotions is relentless. we seem to have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another, unflinchingly. it’s more likely that love will turn, and viciously, into seething hatred, and not so likely that hate will transform itself into love. if someone were to say: ‘I hate loving”, it’s sad, but that is more easy to relate to than: “I love hating”, which almost sounds like a chest-thumping cause for action, or call-to-action.

hate is often considered to be an evil passion that should, in a better world, be tamed, controlled and eradicated. yet, I think were you a biologist, hate is a passion that is of equal interest to love.

like love, hate is often seemingly irrational, and can lead individuals to both heroic and evil deeds. this fascinates me. how can two opposite sentiments lead to the same behavior?

perhaps that line-of-thinking led Ella Wilcox to say: “love lights more fire than hate extinguishes.”

I can’t say I agree with that. for example, love is often viewed as given, whereas is hatred is acquired. but, we can demonstrate how hatred is ladled-out carefully and becomes so much more powerful over time. if someone handed a terrorist (we really do leverage that term liberally, don’t we) a flower, they would likely shove up the givers butt, or grind it into dust and mix it with weed-killer and craftily introduce it into their coca-cola. having said that, perhaps the makers of coca-cola are actually terrorists of a sort because soft drinks are, indeed poison, and slowly killing a large portion of the worlds population. too many people say: “I love coca-cola”, and not enough say: “I hate coca-cola”. but, I digress (although shareholders of coca-cola enterprises love to make money, and certainly don’t hate it).

me? as I continue to explore the complexities of living the authentic life, I’m more likely to try and love, in general. or, at least care. this is where indifference creeps back into the thinking. I’m not sure you can win once love is part of the equation because many lines become blurred and the self can be lost. but, nobody actually wins where hate evolves. that’s a kobayashi maru. I’ll submit once indifference corrupts the soul, there exists hatreds foothold. and, I’ll often try to encourage my fourteen year old daughter to try, and hard, not to even use the word hate in a sentence – especially relative to people, and also inanimate objects (like new cellular telephones) – but more so, then, from a common-sensical standpoint. I also want her to be careful about dispensing and leveraging the word love. there is that tipping-point, after-all.

it all requires a lot of thinking and consideration. a cause, if you will, for that winnie-the-Pooh figgerin’ spot.

peace be to my Brothers and Sisters.

is Self Reliance it’s own principle or quality?

March28

is Self Reliance it’s own principle or quality?

questions and answers.

“Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles.”

that from “Self-Reliance,” by Ralph Waldo Emerson

it’s become something of an obvious point for me of late, if not a raison d’être.

a great life is always fronted by good questions. half the pleasure is finding the answers. the other half is spent realizing answers should lead to yet more questions.

but there are similarities: the futile feeding of the bottomless beast and the unavoidable psychological implications, the immediate hit of the new that feels like an orgasm and the inevitable coming-down.

the quest. questing. questioning.

that’s the plight, curse, course, option, existence, of the Heterodox.

we dictate our own fate by a river of decisions and actions. that’s fueled by discernment. there’s the gift. self reliance might be the best question or answer.

…oh my God.

so… reader… how might you interpret that final line?

peace be to my Brothers and Sisters.

shadowy groups known as, THEY, GOVERNMENT and WALL STREET

March20

have you paused when someone invokes the amorphous “they” in a conversation, or lecture? as in, “you know what they say”.

they are insidious. the word, the interlopers, it’s pervasive nature unto itself…

consider these other musings, of my own…

the-truth2that smoking Rabbit again

dire Warnings, indeed

the secret series: in pursuit of They

that word is broadly used around almost anything uncertain, sort of like almost any reference to government and Wall Street.

it’s probably worse with government, especially when it’s invoked as, “the government”. such bodies are meant to be form or function, not an end-all reference as if it’s the best or only example.

here is how we can tie it all together to make you feel really uncomfortable:

“they say the government controls Wall Street”.

or,

“they say the government is a helpless pawn of Wall Street”.

so… can you name the dude, bloke, puppet-master that actually runs the government? whom is actually in-charge of Wall Street? how is the ultimate decision made? is it all in the hands or at the feet of a shadowy group of old men, or smoking rabbits? or, is it really about a black pipe-smoking dog?  where do they get their training? are they actually Muslim youth Soccer coaches? don’t they actually have the most influence? what if Atlas really is shrugging?

peace be to my Brothers and Sisters.

Love Kats aren’t pussys

March14

so…

I’m all about being a “love Kat“. I give freely of myself, just not for free. and, I’m more comfortable around people that always know precisely how and where I stand.

…wait… are you asking yourself, “what the hell is a love Kat?” well… read the following, then go look for additional posts:

Words to live by…

Being a Love Kat: Definition #4

love Kat tip #12

in any event, I have a history of lighting-up Christians that think they deserve to walk in the light of some Ministry or another.

many peoples views, and also attitudes towards, for, and about Ministries, need to be another “Burning Platform”.

Here are some examples of that:

holding ministries Accountable

ministries mean Business

pillaging ministries for Prophet - well, that elicited a call from a local mega-church Pastor and an inquiry from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

missed-opportunitiesfrom whence our Inspiration?  – okay… wow… that post raised not a few eye brows. it also shook things up rather nicely around these parts.

yup, I love a nice twist on words; word-play, if you will – the entrendre (go look it up. do it!).

this is all about me being the Heterodox. go look that up as well. it’s all over this blog.

and, one of your all-time favorites with millions of views…

I Love You This Much by brian patrick cork  - talk about missed opportunities. Souly Business is  drenched in irony. however, I am eternally grateful, I’m certain of it.

NOTE: the above picture IS NOT Rowdy. I pulled the image from the internet. however it helped launch, from whence our Inspiration into viral sensation, and for good reason. so apropos.

this very morning I answered an email to one of my Brothers, thusly…

“So… Nothing has changed.

What you must be willing to do is look someone in the eye and say to them, “I want to make a living in ministry. But, I can’t seem to generate the business-side of the equation to justify it. So, I need someone to believe that this concept of video testimony is a compelling way to spread the Gospel. If you do then please fuel my efforts financially and shore-up my resolve. God has not made me strong enough to do this myself. I need your help”.

That takes balls, and conviction.

What I know, Todd, is that men want to help one another. But, they have to be willing to ask before other are able to give. Just waiting for everyone else to do it all for you will keep the process shrouded in mystery.

You need to come back under my coaching and stop screwing around with this. We do this on my terms. Or, just go get a job, save up your money, and go into ministry when you can actually afford to do it. I said something similar to Bryan [REDACTED] years ago. He could never talk to me again other than send me letters every now and then asking for money. I still don’t know what he does to earn other people’s largesse… However, I actually believe what you do has merit. You are gifted at helping people tell compelling stories. So, quit being a pussy.

there was then another email (there are three more) from the same hapless fellow that generated this response from me…

“Some time ago, TIME magazine published the results of a survey that asked over a thousand adults about their belief regarding prayer and illness. The survey found that eighty-two percent (82%) of participants believe in the healing power of personal prayer, and seventy-three percent (73%) believe praying for someone else can help cure that person’s illness. When asked about God’s role in healing, seventy-seven percent (77%) said they believe God some times intervenes to cure people who have a serious illness.

While you may not be sick, what you are trying to do is solve a pandemic problem. We need to get people aligned with evangelism and the Great Commission on a modern platform. That makes you potentially part of the solution.

So… How is this need not being amplified and addressed with raised arms and voices? The answer is that, ironically, you have information, ability and skill, but, you are still part of the problem. You do a great and thorough job telling many of us how North Point and other churches are wrong (worse, “crappy”) for not recognizing your genius and opening their coffers up to you. But, they continue to grow and be ever more relevant. Didn’t North Point recently raise millions of dollars recently on a cash-call?

You have lots of creative ideas. But, what would happen if you invested all that energy into genuine action? That might inspire someone to write you a check. What are you doing to earn it?

What are you going to do differently, today?”

all that said… lift me up over ROI Ministry. I’m convinced we can be part of the Solution. I am trying very so hard to be a Love Kat.

peace be to my Brothers and Sisters.

What’s All This About?

"What am I looking at?", you might wonder.

Lots of stuff.

Meanwhile, here, I discuss events, people and things in our world - and, my (hardly simplistic, albeit inarticulate) views around them.

You'll also learn things about, well, things, like people you need to know about, and information about companies you can't find anywhere else.

So, while I harangue the public in my not so gentle way, you will discover that I am fascinated by all things arcane, curious about those whom appear religious, love music, dabble in politics, loathe the media, value education, still think I am an athlete, and might offer a recipe.

All the while, striving mightily, and daily, to remain a prudent and optimistic gentleman - and, authentic.
