the potential for a swirling debate is inevitable as this is certain to divide entire continents. but, how many of you care that I have, in fact, over one hundred and forty (140) DRAFTS for blog posts in my wordpress queue?
you also need to know that I have a great deal of information, both useful and otherwise superfluous, in my head. along the way, I had jotted down a note to myself to investigate the word “numinous”.
numinous is evidently an adjective meaning the power or presence of a divinity. the numinous would be that which gives us the sense that there is more to the world than what we only see and feel.
if you find yourself getting all heated-up, already, over you know what’s coming, I’m happy to fight you. we can duel, if you like.
millions of years ago, some hapless hominid stood transfixed in fear as the skyline was alit with lightning and his ears terrorized by the accompanying thunder. maybe it was earlier that day that he’d seen his cousin dragged away into the bush by some large mammal. so, in the face if this generally rough day he had begun to develop a sense of mortality. like you (and myself), he probably had a difficult time comprehending an ultimate end (who really wants to numinous.
I don’t mind so much if you struggle to track with me, here. I figure God will sort it out later. or, you’ll do some research and email me (firstname.lastname@example.org is fine – mostly because it works, and it’s one of my email addresses) later with an opinion or corollary thought. my objective is almost invariably an effort to get you, collectively, thinking along lines that are not typical, for yourselves. and thusly, I find myself looking at another disparate note I’ve left for myself, a quote in fact, from an unknown author:
“we give them a story that provides the only comfort that really is lasting comfort; it’s a comfort that the enemies have been defeated”.
…although I have this odd feeling this is all, some how, related to another post I’ve written.
so… I’m confident that this is a large part of what Christianity is about. if you are on the side of God, you cannot lose. there is no question that God will win. The only question is, will you side with God (do you really have a choice? more on that tangental thought, later)?
but, as long as you do so, you may fail in many ways, but in the end you’ll triumph.
it’s all so convenient and simple, in a complicated way.
NOTE: How many of you have pondered the variable number of flavors of Christianity we have to choose from? that makes it easier to fit, rather like buying a suit off the rack. or, perhaps more complicated, depending on your “drop” (if you are not sure what a “drop” is, contact Mark Fonseca).
peace be to my Brothers and Sisters.
